The estate

A family, a clos, a phoenix.

Clos U Suale is a young family estate in Patrimonio, born on the great-grandparents' land and shaped by curiosity, care and an undimmed joy in making wine.

The story

Back to the land, as a family.

Both Corsican, Jean-Baptiste and Patricia met more than twenty years ago while studying on the mainland. Back on the island, they raised their son Vincent and spent years caring for others. Then came the call of the vines.

In Patrimonio, Jean-Baptiste's great-grandparents owned a terraced plot that the maquis had reclaimed sixty years earlier. In 2018 they took the plunge: two years clearing the land and rebuilding the dry-stone walls, self-taught, with friends and family. First vines in 2020, first bottles in 2021.

None of it would have been possible without grit, loved ones, friends, and Vincent, a lover of vines and good food, to whom two cuvées pay tribute.

Vines & terroir

Dry-stone terraces, facing the sun.

AOP Patrimonio is famous for its clay-limestone; this clos, however, is rich in schist, which gives the Niellucciu tannins a rare suppleness. The vines are planted at 8,400 per hectare to push the roots deep, regulate yields naturally and withstand drought.

Vermentinu sits on the lower terraces; Niellucciu, more prone to mildew, on the better-ventilated heights. Every vine is staked, worked by hand, and the ploughing is done by horse. Certified organic, copper-free, with biodynamic practices that follow the rhythm of the vine.

The cellar

Power and freshness, precision and generosity.

Hand-picked into small crates between six and ten in the morning. Slow pressing, long cool fermentations for the whites, gentle infusion-style macerations for the reds. Indigenous yeasts throughout, no filtration, a simple settling before bottling.

Ageing in stainless steel and wood. In every cuvée they look for the balance of the couple they are: power and freshness, precision and generosity.

Harvest

All by hand, in crates, with friends.

Tomorrow

The old stone sheepfold.

In the heart of the clos stands an old stone sheepfold. With Vincent, they dream of restoring it to welcome guests: sharing the wines, the table and the spirit of Patrimonio.
